Heat Pumps

An Air-to-Air heat pump is a central heating and cooling system. It looks and cools like any other central air-conditioning system, but the way it heats your home is unique. The heat pump extracts heat from even the coldest outside air and pumps it into your house. One unit of electrical energy used to power the heat pump will provide about two units of heat through an air-to-air system.

A Geothermal heat pump is also a central heating and cooling system. It is even more efficient than an air-to-air system because it pumps heat from the ground into your home in the winter, and in the summer, it reverses the process, extracting heat from your house and dispersing it into the ground. Because a heat pump only transfers heat, instead of burning a fuel to produce heat, it is one of the most efficient ways to heat (and cool) your home. In fact, one unit of electrical energy will provide as much as three units of heat.
